Plans are underway to introduce a new annual tradition for the Ghanaian diaspora with the launch of the maiden Ghana Independence Day Europe celebrations in March 2026.
The event series is expected to bring the excitement and cultural pride of Ghana’s Independence Day to key European cities.
The initiative is being organised by Promo House in partnership with La Bouchée Celeste and is designed to commemorate Ghana’s historic independence on March 6, 1957.
Beyond the anniversary, the celebrations aim to spotlight Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance and community engagement.
Popular Ghanaian radio presenter and DJ, Andy Dosty, will headline the events. Renowned for his high-energy performances and seamless mixes of highlife, Afrobeats and contemporary sounds, the Hitz FM DJ is expected to deliver memorable nights for patrons.
Andy Dosty is also well known for his collaborations with leading Ghanaian artistes, making him a fitting choice for the landmark event.
The celebrations will officially begin on Friday, March 6, 2026, in Paris, France, coinciding with Ghana’s Independence Day.
Activities will then continue in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, giving revellers an extended weekend to celebrate Ghanaian pride abroad.
Organisers say the event is aimed at uniting Ghanaians living in Europe while also introducing non-Ghanaians to the country’s vibrant culture ahead of Ghana’s 69th Independence anniversary.
For many Ghanaians in Europe longing for a taste of home, the Ghana Independence Day Europe celebrations promise to be a joyful and patriotic way to mark the occasion.
