Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President John Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has lauded the current administration’s commitment to gender inclusion, highlighting what she described as intentional efforts to create a system that truly empowers women.
Addressing participants at the 2025 Campus Edition of the Obaasima Summit on Thursday, July 31, Madam Mogtari pointed to several flagship government initiatives and the rising number of women occupying senior roles within the Presidency as clear indicators of tangible progress.
“This is undoubtedly the best time for policies focused on women,” she remarked. “We have national enterprise schemes in place, fee-free interventions reducing financial barriers, and an exceptional representation of women in key governmental roles.”
She further noted, “You’d be astonished at the number of women working at the highest echelons of the Presidency. For once, we have a leader who is not merely offering rhetoric, but actively delivering change.”
Ama Pratt, Founder of the Obaasima Foundation, also addressed the gathering and emphasised the summit’s role in equipping young women with essential life tools.
She, however, appealed for sustained institutional backing to expand the initiative.
“It’s not easy to keep this running. Everyone involved is a volunteer, and every resource is reinvested directly into the programme,” Pratt explained. “With greater funding, we could achieve far more.”
