President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ticket for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
On Thursday, July 4, the National Council of the NPP confirmed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, as the running mate for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Following this announcement, President Akufo-Addo expressed his strong support for the duo, describing them as an "excellent pairing" and voicing his confidence in their potential to secure victory for the NPP in the forthcoming elections.
In a statement to journalists, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the strengths and leadership qualities of Bawumia and Opoku Prempeh, emphasizing their suitability to lead the party.
“National Council has endorsed the nomination of Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to be the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“The NPP has an excellent ticket, and we’re going to win with this ticket on 7th December 2024, that’s the news. The feeling is good, they make a very good pair, and they are going to win," he said.
The President's endorsement underscores the party's strategic positioning and optimism as they head into the electoral campaign season.
