The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to NPP members to eschew comments and actions that have the potential to create cracks in the party and ultimately affect their electoral fortunes.
Speaking during a three-day zonal Constituency Engagement in the Ashanti Region, Dr Bawumia cautioned that every word or deed perpetrated against a party member provides ready-made ammunition for the party's opponents and detractors in national elections.
Alluding to the ongoing preparation to elect a flagbearer for the NPP in the 2028 general elections, Dr Bawumia urged supporters of all aspirants to be circumspect in their campaign, because the party would have to come together after the internal election to vigorously prosecute the general elections.
"Unity is non-negotiable if we want to win in 2028. Without unity, we cannot win," he stated, adding that, "The NPP is a formidable force when we come together with a single purpose. When we unite and work together, we will make a swift return to the Jubilee House."

Reiterating his absolute commitment to party unity, Dr Bawumia pledged to do everything within his power to bring his fellow competitors and their supporters on board after the primary on January 31, 2026.
"I want everyone to know and understand that I have no issues with anyone, so don't look at someone helping with my campaign and decide not to vote for me. You will be voting for me, not the person. Please vote for me, and forgive the person.
"If God gives me victory, I will do everything in my power to bring my fellow competitors and their supporters on board so we work together and achieve victory. The best candidate will struggle to make headway if there is disunity in the party he leads. I urge us all to keep this constantly in our minds, and do whatever it takes to build a strong, united NPP capable of prosecuting a formidable campaign and winning national elections."
