Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has highlighted what he says is the superior record of the current government against the previous one, headed by former President John Mahama.
Speaking at the commissioning of a 1,070 housing units under the Kpone Affordable Housing Project, Dr. Bawumia who is the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, said the present government has demonstrated a stronger commitment to addressing Ghana's housing challenge, pointing to a meagre number the Mahama government built.
"Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has made it very clear and the data is very much there if you look at what we have done," Dr. Bawumia said.
"The record in the housing sector over the last 8 years is vastly superior to the record of the previous government. Just vastly, it is not even close. It is massively superior."
"TDC (Tema Development Company) didn't complete a unit when they were there. When you look at State Housing under the last government, for 8 years they only did 12 houses. Just 12 houses by state housing in 8 years."
Contrary to the record of the Mahama administration, Dr. Bawumia revealed over 100 housing units have been built by State Housing.
"We have done over a thousand houses in state housing alone. And over a thousand in TDC so it is not even close."
"The comparison is not close. You are talking about elephants versus nkokonketenketen."
