The Black Queens have dropped to 67th in the latest FIFA ranking despite their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) heroics.
Ghana, who previously occupied the 66th position, have dropped by one place in the August update which was released on Thursday.
On the continent, however, the Black Queens maintained their sixth spot following the conclusion of the WAFCON tournament held in Morocco last month.
Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s side finished third on their return to continental football for the first time since 2018, beating South Africa to claim bronze medal.
Ghana suffered two defeats in the competition coming in the group stage against the Banyana Banyana as well as the semifinals against hosts Morocco.
The drop in the rankings comes as a surprise considering the team’s performance at the tournament finishing above teams like Zambia in fourth and Morocco in third on the continent.
Nigeria who won their 10th WAFCON title maintained their top spot.
