Former Black Stars players, Stephen Appiah, Asamoah Gyan, Laryea Kingston and Emmanuel Armah Senegal, stormed Nalerigu, the North East Regional capital on Sunday, for the commissioning of the Naa Sheriga stadium, a modern football complex built by Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The football complex, the first of its kind in Nalerigu, was personally built by the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP for the people of Nalerigu and its environs.

The Black Stars legends were special guest players for the inaugural football match at the complex after it was opened by the Vice President.

Stephen Appiah captained a local side, with Armah Senegal as his team mate, while Asamoah Gyan also captained another local side, with Laryea Kingston joining him as team mate.

The four players thrilled the local fans, giving nostalgic memories of their hey days with the senior national team.

Even though Dr. Bawumia scored a penalty earlier, as part of the commissioning ceremony, Ghana’s record goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan made history as the first person to score a match goal at the Na Sheriga stadium.

After scoring, Gyan performed his world-famous dancing celebration, much to the delight of the fans.

The Complex, named after the late Overlord of Mamprugu, Na Sheriga, has the following facilities: changing rooms, offices, standard astro turf, a VIP stand, a 1000 seater stands at opposite ends of the pitch, as well as a large standing areas, for future expansion of the stands.
