The Central Regional Police Command is pursuing a gang of armed robbers who engaged in a gun battle with Winneba Police after attempting to rob the Microfin Rural Bank at Gomoa Pomadze in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.
According to police reports, the robbers tied up security officers at the bank around 1:50 a.m. before breaking into the premises in an attempt to steal money.
However, when a police patrol team arrived at the scene, the robbers opened fire on them. Police returned fire, forcing the robbers to flee.

Speaking to Adom News, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Isaac Entie, confirmed that the four security officers on night duty were tied up by the attackers.
He explained that the robbers fled after realizing they were outgunned by the police.

Items retrieved from the scene included two empty BB cartridges, two iron bars, one saw blade, two sharp cutting plates, two new padlocks, a pump-action gun, additional cartridges, and a set of door locks.
Chief Inspector Entie added that although the robbers caused significant damage to the bank’s doors and windows, they were unable to make away with any money due to the swift intervention of the police.
