A major disinfection exercise to cleanse all the markets in the Bono Region has been successfully completed.
The exercise was organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in partnership with pioneer waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
It was aimed at disinfecting various markets across the country to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The event on Monday, March 31, 2020, started with a parade around 6 a.m. by a joint police and military personnel from the region.
During the spraying exercise, Zoomlion Ghana applied advance technology such as smoke disinfectant, spraying drones and tankers, disinfect the principal streets around various markets.
Some of the markets sprayed include Sunyani Daily Market, Charcoal Market, Nana Busuma Market, Atonie Market and Fiapre Marke, Techeman Market, and Berekum Market.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation and Ghana Ambulance Service also took part in the exercise.
In an interview with JoyNews, a resident of the town, Opanin Kofi Obeng, praised the government for the exercise which he believes will help in the fight against diseases.
He said an exercise of such nature should be done across the country every year to avoid diseases in market places.
