Former WBO Super Bantamweight champion Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe is set to make a return to ring more than a year after his failed bid to recapture the world title from Emmanuel Navarrete.
The 25 year old announced via twitter he’ll face 30 year old American Chris Avalos (27-7 20KOs) in Las Vegas on the 21st of July. Dogboe has not fought since losing a rematch to current WBO bantamweight champion Emmanuel Navarette in May 2019.
The Ghanaian has recently spoken about a third fight against Navarette but it is unlikely it will happen while talk of a fight against Carl Frampton didn’t materialize. Dogboe is currently not rated on any of the sanctioning bodies rankings and will be looking to use the fight against Avalos to get himself back into the world title picture.
Avalos has lost his last two fights against WBA Super Featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz and young Puerto Rican prospect Abimael Ortiz.
