The Electoral Commission (EC) says it has set in motion plans to enable Ghanaians living abroad to vote in this year's Parliamentary and Presidential elections.
The Commission says it has already begun implementing the directive of the Supreme Court to ensure that these Ghanaians have the opportunity to vote in the December polls.
"We have done what we have to do. the court mandated us to ensure that we have a C.I ready which the Commision has done and presented to Parliament.
"We are now waiting for them to open the discussion and anytime they invite us we are ready to look at the ramification of the recommendations to make sure that Ghanaians are able to vote.
"If they invite us today or tomorrow, the Electoral Commission is fully ready," Deputy Commissioner in Charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare told JoyNews' Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye.
The Representation of the People's Amendment Act (ROPAA) passed 12 years ago is yet to be implemented. The delay subsequently sparked a number of Court actions against the EC.
On May 8, 2019, an Accra High Court granted a request by the Electoral Commission for an extension of the deadline, to implement the law.
But speaking on the AM Show, Dr. Bossman said barring any hitches, Ghanaians living abroad should be able to vote come December 7.
