An articulated truck fell on its side on the Accra-Kumasi highway causing heavy traffic on that stretch in the wee hours of Thursday.
The vehicle loaded with goods was heading towards Accra from Kumasi when the accident occurred.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the truck lost control and in his attempt to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle, the truck was tipped over.
“The driver veered off the road to save a vehicle that was moving towards the direction of the articulated track," the eyewitness said.
This led to a heavy traffic on the road. The unidentified driver is said to have escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, officials from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) have visited the scene to bring the situation under control.
