Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will appear before Parliament today, Wednesday, to render an account of President Akufo-Addo's recent foreign trips to France, Belgium and South Africa.
He will also provide the House with the cost of air travels made by former President John Dramani Mahama from 2013 to 2016.
This information was requested by MP for Dormaa East, Paul Apreku Twum-Barimah.
On the issue of free SHS policy, raised by MP for Builsa South Dr Clement Apaak, the Minister will inform Parliament if government procured loans to finance the initiative.
Mr Ofori-Atta on June 7, was summoned by the House to provide clarity on the matter after North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alleged that the President's trip on the G-Kelt aircraft instead of the presidential jet cost £15,000 per hour.
The sector minister, however, failed to show, pleading for an extension to enable him to prepare adequately.
Since this development, the Minority side of the House have described the Finance Minister's absence as disappointing and a sad day for accountability and good governance.
They further threatened to move a vote of censure to remove Mr Ken Ofori-Atta from office should he fail to render an account to the general public.
Meanwhile, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who has been at the forefront of the issue, demanding accountability from the government has prayed that the House be provided with a true account today.
“I hope that the Finance Minister will be candid, transparent and unimpeachably sincere with the House after the rigmarole,” Mr Ablakwa stated while addressing the floor of the House.
On the other hand, Mr Ofori-Atta Atta is also expected to present the Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government and Supplementary Estimate for the 2021 Financial Year on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
