The Acting Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ali Adolf John has been elected as the new Chairman of the party.
He garnered 247 votes to beat his close contender, Wumbei Godfred who secured 236 votes. Alhaji Umar Faruk got nine votes, while Hassan Rufai Ahmed Velim had 93.

For the Vice Chairmanship position, Hamid Alhassan was declared winner with a 191-vote count. He was followed by Alhassan Abdul Mumin Fuseini -150, Alhaji Imoru -102, Yakubu Yushaw - 32, Tanko Maida - 80 and Zakaria Haruna -35
The incumbent Secretary, Mohammed Abdul Salam retained his position with 298 votes and his competitor Dr. Abukari Wumbei went home with 261 votes.

The current Deputy Secretary, Ziblim Saaka also picked up his slot with 257 votes beating Abu Takoro who had 157 votes and Ibrahim Malam - 80.
Also, the organiser, Abubakar Abdallah maintained his position with 397 votes while his Deputy, Zakaria Majid who contested him got 192 votes.
The rest of the winners are; Mohammed Zatious who beat five other candidates with 223 votes to win the Deputy organiser position.

The Treasurer position went to Hajia Shemima who pulled 262 votes and Deputy Treasurer Suhuyini M.S. Ya Lana also got 261 votes.
On the regional communications positions, Sulemana Mahamudu won with 319 votes while the Deputy Communication position was secured by Abdallah Abu Safianu with 287 votes.
Hajia Jamilatu Amadu retained her position for the Zongo Caucus with 360 votes.
