The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has stated that the party will not offer an amnesty to all former members, particularly those who were suspended for misconduct.

He noted that some individuals feel they were unfairly treated in the course of their suspension. “Many of these people still have the party at heart, and we must re-examine their cases to consider the possibility of pardoning them so they can be officially reinstated.”

“But we will not extend any form of amnesty to those who voluntarily left to join other groups or parties,” he concluded.

He clarified, however, that the party is open to considering pardons for suspended members who demonstrate genuine remorse and express a willingness to return.

This, he said, also applies to members who voluntarily resigned from the party and are now seeking re-entry.

Speaking during the party’s nationwide “Thank You” tour in Konongo, in the Ashanti Region, Mr Frimpong made a clear distinction between those eligible for clemency and those who are not.

“Our leadership is committed to fostering unity within the party, and as such, we are ready to extend an olive branch to suspended members who are prepared to make amends and return to the fold,” he said.

“However, we cannot offer general amnesty to everyone. If you left the party of your own accord, we cannot simply reinstate you. Individuals in that category must write formally to the party, expressing their intent to return, after which the party will assess their request and make a decision,” the General Secretary explained.
