Nations FC defeated Bibiani Gold Stars 2-0 on matchday 11 of the Ghana Premier League at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, with a brace from winger Faisal Charwetey securing all three points.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring just seven minutes in, before doubling the lead in the 33rd minute to seal a much-needed win for the hosts. Nations FC dominated the first half, controlling possession and tempo, while GoldStars AKA The Miners struggled to find their rhythm.
GoldStars improved after the break and pushed to get back into the contest, but Nations FC held firm to secure their first victory in four matches.
The result also marks Frimpong Manso’s first win as Nations FC head coach, coming against his former side.
He will be hoping to build on this performance as his team travels to face Basake Holy Stars on matchday 12. Nations FC now sit 11th on the table with 13 points.
Gold Stars, meanwhile, remain fifth with 19 points and will be aiming to bounce back when they host league leaders Aduana Stars next week.
