Two people tragically lost their lives in a horrific accident in Konongo, Ashanti Region, in the evening of Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
The incident occurred when a fuel tanker, attempting to avoid a crash, failed to engage its brakes and collided with a Kia truck and a Hyundai Elantra. The force of the impact left two individuals dead at the scene.
CCTV footage from the scene, which was shared on social media, shows the fuel tanker veering off its lane and barreling into the Kia truck head-on.
The force of the collision was so intense that the Kia truck was pushed several meters backward from its original position.
The Hyundai Elantra, which was also struck by the tanker, sustained significant damage but did not report immediate fatalities.
The two deceased victims, who were in the Kia truck, died instantly following the crash. Authorities have yet to release their identities, and investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
Eyewitnesses at the scene expressed their shock and horror at the sight of the crash, while emergency services worked to clear the wreckage and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
