The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA), in collaboration with the GARFA Women's Division One League Committee, held an event to ballot the first edition of the Division One FA Cup.
The introduction of the regional FA Cup competition is in line with FIFA's demand for players to meet the official games required in a season.
The balloting was held on Tuesday, March 4, at the Conference Room of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).
The first edition of the tournament will see the involvement of 17 teams from the GARFA Division One League, including table toppers Oaks FC and former Ghana Women's Premier League side Ridge City Women.

"The GFA came to the conclusion that because of how difficult it is for women's football, because of the lack of matches that women play in the regions, it will be a good idea to encourage them to play more matches," she told Joy Sports.
"Despite the fact that there is a nationwide FA Cup, we are also organising an FA Cup specifically for the regions. Every region in Ghana has been tasked to organise their own FA Cup.
"We currently have 17 clubs for the GARFA Women's Division One League and they are being put together, mixed up and thrown out there."
She also called for support from corporate Ghana as well as individuals who are keen to see the development of women's football while encouraging fans to be at the venue to watch the games.
Here are the matches expected to be played in the first round of games of the FA Cup on March 8 and 9 respectively:
- African Golden Eagles vs. Epiphany Nexy Gen
- Starlets FC vs. Rock Ladies
- Ideal Ladies vs. Teshie Constants
- Oak FC vs. GRA Ladies
- Christ Angels vs. Sissamba Ladies
- Accra Ladyz vs. Immigration Ladies
- Besiktas Ladies vs. Cabfix Ladies
