Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has cautioned Ghanaian clubs to pay attention to the new Club Licencing Online Platform (CLOP) standards ahead of the 2024/2025 season.

He made this statement while addressing representatives from the 18 Ghana Premier League (GPL), 20 Women’s Premier League (WPL), and 48 Division One League (DOL) Clubs during a workshop organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the GFA.

The workshop was part of CAF’s ongoing initiative to establish world-class administrative structures across the continent by implementing the CLOP system.

"In times past, we had not placed premium on the financial documents you always submit in fulfilment of the licensing demands. We shall place a lot of premium on this next season," the GFA President said.

"So, for those of you who have, rather unfortunately, not been entirely up to speed with this requirement, you would need to up your game! I am just saying this to sound a note of caution."

He emphasised that since 2019, the GFA has prioritised improving the sport's structures, processes, and overall health.

He praised the clubs for working with the licencing body to improve the quality of football in the country.

“I want our friendship to grow, underpinned by honesty and transparency so as to ensure that we work together and deliver outcomes that advance our Football. There is a lot of potential in our country and we need to improve on our delivery. In service marketing, excellent delivery is always the best," he added.

Okraku stated that the GFA will continue to make the necessary investments in its efforts to make football more appealing in Ghana and throughout the continent.

CAF was commended by the GFA President for their assistance in organising the workshop, which is expected to have a significant influence on the clubs.

CAF created CLOP, a computerised technology, to manage the stadium inspection and club licencing procedures for both domestic and continental events.

Each Member Association has access to a completely computerised and automated club licencing procedure via the platform, enabling clubs to submit and save their club licencing paperwork electronically.
