Convener of the OneGhana Movement and Trustee of the Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey, Senyo Hosi, has urged the government to move swiftly from discussion to action following revelations from the audit of GH¢21 billion in public claims.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, March 14, Mr Hosi said the findings present clear indications of wrongdoing that must lead to prosecutions.
According to him, the information emerging from the audit provides a strong basis for law enforcement authorities to take action against individuals implicated in any fraudulent activities.
“This is indicative information to prosecute people. We cannot keep talking about these things without action,” he said.
Mr Hosi stressed that Ghana has for years discussed financial irregularities in the public sector without seeing meaningful consequences for those responsible.
He argued that the latest revelations present an opportunity for the government to demonstrate its commitment to accountability and the protection of public resources.
He therefore called on authorities to ensure that the audit findings are followed by firm legal action.
“No more talks. If we are serious as a country, this information should lead to prosecutions. People must be held accountable for the misuse of public funds,” Mr Hosi stated.
