The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has interdicted six officers for gross misconduct after a video circulating on social media showed them verbally assaulting a superior officer.
In a statement, it said the superior, who identified himself as a Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOL), was travelling as a passenger on a commercial vehicle when the incident occurred.
The GIS noted that the altercation took place on November 25, 2025, at the Offinso In-land Checkpoint, where the officers were on duty.
It said the video captured behaviour described as verbal assault, lack of civility, and open disrespect toward the superior officer, actions that fall far below the standards expected of personnel of the Service.
According to GIS, the officers’ conduct represents a clear breach of the Ghana Immigration Service Code of Conduct and is entirely unacceptable.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI) stated that professionalism, respect for authority, and integrity remain core values of the Service, and any behaviour undermining these principles will face swift and decisive action.
The statement further said an investigation has been launched, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in line with the Ghana Immigration Service Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2245).
The Service apologised for any inconvenience or embarrassment caused to the public and reassured citizens of its commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline, accountability, and professionalism.
It noted that updates will be provided once the investigation concludes.
