The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has safely relocated a bee swarm from Vakpo Secondary Technical School in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region after a student and a teacher were attacked and stung by the insects. Both victims received medical attention following the incident.

According to the GNFS, personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station responded to the school after receiving reports of the bee attack. Preliminary findings indicated that the swarm had been nesting in the ceiling of the girls’ dormitory for several years but became agitated after weeding activities were carried out around the area.

Firefighters successfully removed and relocated the bee swarm, restoring safety to the affected part of the school.

The operation prevented further attacks and allowed normal activities on the school campus to resume without posing additional risks to students and staff.

The GNFS has since advised school authorities and the public to promptly report bee infestations to the Service for professional intervention.

It also urged institutions to restrict access to areas where bee swarms are detected and to avoid disturbing them, stressing that early reporting and proper handling are essential to preventing similar incidents.
