Albert Amoah stepped up to convert a penalty with six minutes remaining, to secure a point for Asante Kotoko against Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Ghana Premier League.
Bechem, who had lost three of their last four matches in all competitions, surprisingly took the lead against the league leaders Kotoko through Darlvin Yeboah around the hour mark.
Relentless pressure from Kotoko paid off after a spot kick was handed following a handball which was converted by Amoah in the 84th minute.
Kotoko, who have 47 points, have lost their lead at the summit of the table but remain on top due to a better goal difference than second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars.
The Porcupines face Accra Lions in their next encounter.
Meanwhile, seventh placed Bechem take on Gold Stars as they hope for an upsurge in form.
