Hearts of Oak marked their return to the Accra Sports Stadium with a narrow win over Medeama SC.
Raphael Amponsah’s goal was the difference maker on the day as the Phobians claimed a 1-0 win over Medeama in the Ghana Premier League.
The win came as a relief for under fire Hearts boss Aboubakar Ouattara who had suffered three losses in his last four games prior to the game against Medeama.
The Tarkwa-based side failed to find the back of the net despite their continuous effort at goal in the opening half of the game.
Amponsah’s long-range effort in the 23rd minute unsettled the Medeama defence handing Hearts the lead.
Medeama continued to chase the goal that could draw them level but were wasteful in front of goal to the delight of the Hearts defence.
Returning goalkeeper Benjamin Asare proved crucial in Hearts thwarting all efforts at goal and going on to pick all three points.
The result means Hearts now move to fourth on the league table, four points off the top.
