Heart of Lions kicked off their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Dreams FC at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Lions started on the front foot, pushing Dreams into their half in the early minutes. Anim’s fourth-minute effort was blocked for a corner, setting the tone for a lively opening.
A minute later, Danso showed alertness at the back, clearing his lines to launch another Lions attack.
Dreams, however, were not without answers, as goalkeeper Gidios Aseako was called into action in the 15th minute to deny Samuel Boamah Quansah’s strike from distance.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Ebenezer Abban pounced inside the box to slot home, sending the home fans into raptures.
Lions thought they had doubled their lead five minutes later through Freeman and Boamah, but the referee flagged for offside.
After recess, Dreams FC grew into the game and tried to find their rhythm, but the Lions’ defence held firm to preserve their narrow advantage.
The victory gives Hearts of Lions a perfect start to the season, while Dreams FC will look to bounce back in their next outing.
