The United Party’s Director of Field Operations, Hopeson Adorye, has expressed support for former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, who alleged that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 flagbearer election was manipulated in favour of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
On Monday, 12 January, Prof Frimpong-Boateng stated on a live TV show,
“The present NPP is not NPP. It is fake. From what I see now, this is not the NPP I used to know.”
Speaking on JoyNews AM on Tuesday, Mr Adorye said Frimpong-Boateng was correct in his claims, insisting that the election had been rigged.
“Was it not true? What Frimpong-Boateng was saying, was it not true? That they rigged the 2024 flagbearer election, was it not true? They did not give a fair playing ground. They rigged it, some agents of other candidates were chased out,” he alleged.

He added, “Recently, in the North East, they were saying that they voted for Kennedy Agyapong; meanwhile, they said all candidates got zero in the region, and Bawumia got all the votes.”
Hopeson, who left the NPP to join Alan Kyerematen’s United Party, insisted that Frimpong-Boateng spoke the truth and that his statements should not be challenged.
“I went to a polling station on December 7 to cast my vote at Valley View University. I know the guys I work with, and they cast for Movement for Change. After counting, I called them, they counted my vote, and all the rest (of the votes for Movement for Change) were given to someone else,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, the NPP has begun formal processes to expel the former Minister following his comments.
