Hours after the demise of Akua Donkor, the Presidential Candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), some videos of interviews she had while she was alive have surfaced online.
One of such videos is an interview she had with Zionfelix TV, detailing her health status.
When the interviewer asked if she could contain with the drudgery that comes with the work of the President considering her age and health status, she answered in the affirmative.
She also said that in the unlikely event of her passing, there was someone to act in her stead.
"I have been experiencing health challenges for the past 10 years but I am still alive. Even if I die today, my running mate will take over from me," she said in the interview published by Zionfelix TV on October 12, 2024.
Akua Donkor passed away at Ridge Hospital in Accra on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the age of 72.
Akua Donkor whose political career began as an Assemblywoman for Hemang in the Ashanti Region, is widely known for tickling the humour buds of people with her speeches and commentaries.
Throughout her political journey, she distinguished herself by running for the presidency multiple times, demonstrating remarkable resilience despite financial challenges.
Although her first attempt in 2012 as an independent candidate and a subsequent one in 2016 proved unsuccessful, she met the eligibility requirements of the Electoral Commission and got featured in the 2020 election.
With just 39 days to the 2024 election, Akua Donkor had been promising policies like free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services for the clearance of goods, free education, and improved remuneration for farmers.
The recent highlight of her 2024 presidential campaign was when she appointed Roman Fada, the manager for highlife musician Daddy Lumba and a broadcaster at Atinka FM, as her running mate.
In the meantime, Roman Fada, in an interview Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, has said that no decision has been taken on the party's participation in the 2024 general election in the wake of Akua Donkor's demise.
