The Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh has dispatched homicide experts from the National Police Headquarters to the Savannah region to help search for the murderers of the 90-year old woman lynched in the Gonja East District.
The 90-year-old woman identified as Akua Denteh, was accused of witchcraft by a priestess and resulted in her gruesome murder at the hands of some community members at Kafaba near Salaga.
Suspects wanted for her murder have fled the town following the incident.
They include, “one Sanjo, who is said to have hosted Hajia Filina, a priestess who declared the deceased a witch. Others are: the priestess Hajia Filina, one Teacher Aliu, Bumaye, Ashley, and Manafo,” a statement from the police said.
The IGP has announced a GH¢2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of any of the suspects.

The Police Administration has condemned the act and other forms of mob justice, and has assured the general public of its determination to ensure that justice is served.
