The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South in the Eastern Region, Michael Okyere Baafi, has announced that he will not seek re-election after his current term ends.
According to him, his mission in politics is almost complete. "That is what (not to contest again) I decided to do, I have taken a decision already," he said in a One-On-One interview on JoyPrime.
Mr Okyere Baafi explained that he initially entered Parliament in 2020 with the sole aim to "correct a situation in a parliamentary process in Koforidua, I am done."

According to him, his intention at the time was to serve only one term and then return to the corporate world. "I wanted to do only one term," adding, "I have made a huge impact in society."
"You should have principles and so sometimes you decided to do things and you say this is what I want to do for myself, I want to do it within this period," he explained.
The MP emphasised that, "I do business, I will still do business."
Mr Okyere Baafi, who previously served as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board, noted that his political journey has been fulfilling but insists his passion for business remains strong.
