A private legal practitioner affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frank Davies, has commended President John Mahama for his commitment to appointing only sixty ministers.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, January 25, the lawyer expressed hope that the President would remain true to his promise, made during the campaign period.
“I must say from the outset that I am enamoured by the fact that His Excellency President John Mahama intends to stick to a select number of sixty ministers. I only wish that he will be able to stick to that number,” he said.
Mr Davies drew a comparison to the former NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who had expressed his intention to govern with only fifty ministers, aligning it with President Mahama’s approach.
“After all, our presidential flagbearer and candidate at the time, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, intended to govern this country with fifty ministers. So, if President Mahama is sticking to his list of sixty, we all have to commend him for at least doing what is right by the people and keeping to his campaign and manifesto promise,” he added.
