The Medical Superintendent of the Bibiani Government Hospital has called on government and all stakeholders to support the hospital to build more facilities and equipment.
According to Dr Adu Gyamfi, the hospital serves residents of Bibiani and neigbouring communities in the Asante, Ahafo, Central, Western and Western North regions.
Dr Adu Gyamfi indicated the location of the hospital has increased the demand for access to all types of health services, including surgical interventions which have quintupled over the years.
Meanwhile, he noted that the hospital is among those in dire need of physical infrastructure and medical equipment.
He added that the hospital doesn't have a befitting obstetrics and gynaecological unit to cater for women who get pregnant, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a physiotherapy unit, a conference room for workshops, and others.
That notwithstanding, Dr Adu Gyamfi mentioned that the whole region has no CT scan machine, of which patients are always referred to Kumasi and other places.
Mammogram machines to test for breast cancer, oxygen production plant, and medical waste treatment plant are all equipment gaps limiting the guaranteed quality health service delivery to their cherished clients.
The Medical Superintendent disclosed this during the commissioning of an ultramodern theatre constructed by a philanthropist, Francis Manu popularly known as Kwasi Diaso.
However, Dr Adu Gyamfi made a passionate appeal to the government and all individuals, especially Sehwis who find themselves in all parts of the country and beyond to come and support the efforts of the hospital workers in ensuring that the good people of Bibiani and beyond receive quality healthcare in the provision of physical infrastructure and medical equipment.
And also, appealed to the various cooperate institutions and mining companies in the area to help bridge the infrastructure and equipment deficit in healthcare delivery.
The philanthropist, Francis Manu told the media why he constructed the ultra-modern theatre for the Bibiani government hospital.
He said he did that out of frustration after he visited the hospital and was referred to Komfo Anokye teachings hospital because of inadequate space at the hospital's theatre.
He, together with his friend taught of it and decided to build a theatre facility for the hospital to avert such situations.
Mr Manu disclosed he spent an amount of GH¢700,000.00 to complete the project.
He used the opportunity to urge all generous people to support their society, especially in the health delivery service.
