The Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has assured Ghanaians that Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in good health.
This update follows growing public concern about her condition after she was flown to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
On April 24, President John Mahama had earlier reassured citizens that the Vice President was "recuperating well and in high spirits."
“I wish to extend the greetings of Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to all of you. I spoke to her yesterday and told her we were going to miss her at this event because this is a programme that is very dear to her.”
Speaking on Joy FM on May 5, Mr Kwakye Ofosu stressed that she remains in good health at the health facilities in the UK.
According to him, "As and when they [doctors] think that she is ok for her to come, I’m sure they will give the green light.”
“I know for a fact that she is well,” he added.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang was reported to have suffered a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025, and subsequently sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the following day.
Government noted in the statement that medical experts advised the Vice President to seek further treatment abroad as a precautionary measure to support her full recovery.
Following medical advice, Prof Opoku-Agyemang commenced a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, prioritising her health and well-being.
