Former Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of pursuing what he described as a covert and coordinated attempt to introduce LGBTQ provisions into Ghana’s Constitution and educational system.
In a post on his social media platforms on Friday, January 16, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee claimed that proposals emerging from the ongoing constitutional review process were part of a deliberate agenda to impose LGBTQ-related policies on Ghanaians.
“This is the diabolical LGBTQ proposal the NDC intends to push down the throat of Ghanaians in the constitutional review underway,” he wrote.

The Assin South MP further alleged that the constitutional review coincides with what he described as the smuggling of LGBTQ concepts into teacher training manuals.
According to him, these materials promote ideas of gender beyond the binary male and female, including what he termed “diversity of sexual identity and expressions.”
He argued that the timing of these developments could not be accidental.
Rev. Fordjour also accused the NDC of misleading the Ghanaian electorate ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He claimed the party “fraudulently lied their way to power by weaponising LGBTQ propaganda,” only to begin introducing related policies after winning power.
He further linked his concerns to Ghana’s recent abstention at the United Nations Human Rights Council on a vote related to LGBTQ matters, describing it as part of a broader strategy.
According to him, the abstention was a precursor to what he alleged is a “well-coordinated” effort to introduce LGBTQ concepts into the Constitution and the education system.
