The Minority caucus in Parliament has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of attempting to buy time to cover up its incompetence in managing the country's economy.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, March 3, former Minister of Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, said the government's economic policies lack direction and have only worsened the country’s financial challenges.
Dr Amin Adam criticised the government’s approach to economic management, arguing that it has failed to implement sustainable policies to stabilise the economy.
“It is evident that the NDC government is merely stalling for time, hoping to shift blame instead of taking responsibility for the dire economic situation they have created. This is a deliberate strategy to cover up their incompetence,” he stated.
He further argued that the administration’s handling of the economy has resulted in increased hardship for Ghanaians, with inflation, high taxation, and a struggling private sector stifling growth.
He insisted that rather than taking decisive steps to resolve the economic crisis, the government continues to hold forums like the National Economic Dialogue to distract the public.
The former Finance Minister reaffirmed the Minority’s commitment to holding the government accountable and ensuring that Ghanaians are not misled.
“We will not allow the NDC to deceive the people of Ghana with rhetoric and excuses. The economic hardship is real, and the government must take full responsibility for its failures,” he concluded.
