Police in Nigeria says they are hunting for a group of gunmen who attacked an orphanage and kidnapped at least six children in the capital, Abuja.
The gunmen stormed the orphanage in Abaji area on the outskirts of the city on Saturday. They kidnapped children are aged between 10 and 13.
As the kidnappers abducted three other residents, members of the community reported hearing gunfire.
A police spokesperson told the BBC that one of the abducted children was rescued.
Without giving details, the police say security forces are on the trail of the abductors to rescue the orphans.
While attacks on orphanages are rare in Nigeria schools have been targeted previously.
It’s not clear who carried out the abduction, but kidnapping for ransom is rampant across the country.
