Nora Häuptle’s departure from Ghana’s Black Queens was a result of a disagreement over remuneration and not due to friendly matches, says the spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum.

The Swiss manager, who was appointed in 2023, left her role following the expiration of her contract and signed a three-year deal with Zambia.

Prior to her move, Nora shared a post on her LinkedIN profile where she expressed concern over the Queen’ lack of matches in comparison to other nations ahead of the 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations.

"We only failed to play a friendly match in November. How is that enough reason for the coach not to have her contract extended?" Henry said.

"It is purely an issue of remuneration disagreement. The FA organized friendlies against Benin, Senegal twice, and Japan, where we lost 4-0.

"[In November] we planned friendlies against Senegal, Tunisia, and France, which did not happen because of the distance and the players' fatigue after the Japan friendly. It was all done by the FA.”

Nora qualified Ghana for the WAFCON after the nation missed out on the previous two editions.

Meanwhile, the GFA has promised to announce her replacement in due course.
