The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in North Dayi, Volta Region, has officially announced that Addae Bright, also known as Zakpo, has forfeited his membership after openly declaring support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Bright, who served as the NPP Youth Organiser for the Anfoega Wadamaxe polling station, made his declaration during a rally organised by the NDC on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Botoku.
At the event held in honour of NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Bright expressed his backing for both the NDC parliamentary candidate and the party's flagbearer.
His actions have been deemed a violation of the NPP’s constitution, specifically Article 3(9)(1), which prohibits members from supporting rival political parties or candidates.
As a result, the NPP has declared that Bright is no longer a member of the party. In an official statement, the party confirmed the forfeiture of his membership and urged all party members to treat him as such.
“The party wishes him well in his future political endeavours,” the statement concluded.
Bright’s public endorsement of the opposition has raised eyebrows, as political loyalty is held in high regard within both parties, and the incident underscores the strict adherence to party policies and discipline within the NPP.
