The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is engaging all stakeholders over the demand of some Majority MPs for Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta and Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen to be sacked.
The party said it’s engaging the government and the parliamentary group to find an amicable solution on the matter.
It has thus asked all factions to remain calm as the issue is being resolved.

“The leadership of the party is currently engaging government as well as the parliamentary group and urges all stakeholders to remain calm as it seeks an amicable resolution to the impasse”, the NPP said in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Stephen Ayensu on Tuesday, October 25.
The statement added the party will “engage the government on all issues of utmost interest and concern to the party.”
Some 80 New Patriotic Party MPs for the immediate dismissal of the Finance Minister.
According to them, the continuous stay of Ken Ofori-Atta in office was delaying the IMF bailout the country is seeking due to the fact that the Minister has lost all credibility.
They have thus petitioned the President to either remove him or face a boycott in Parliament.
“If our request is not responded to positively, we will not be present for the budget hearing, neither will we participate in the debate,” Mr Appiah-Kubi, spokesperson for the Majority caucus and MP for Asante-Akim North Constituency indicated.
Also, the Okaikwei Central MP, Patrick Boamah said the call for the reshuffle of the Finance Ministry is a good one if the Akufo-Addo-led government wants to succeed and break the cycle of eight per party at the helm of the country’s governance.
Mr Patrick Boamah asserted that, if it requires Akufo-Addo to sack all his cabinet ministers and set up a new government, the MPs will support him.
“It’s a good call that as a concerned Majority, we want our government to succeed.
