New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Ahafo Ano South-West constituency of Ashanti Region have debunked claims by the NDC of winning the 2024 parliamentary election in the area.
The NDC won the presidential election in the constituency, but the parliamentary polls were declared for Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah who won with a 658 vote difference.
But a demonstration was staged by the women’s wing of the NDC demanding the declaration of results of 11 polling stations from the district office of the Electoral Commission.

The NDC women organizer in the area, Adwoa Owusuaa, contends if the eleven polling station results were added, their candidate Sadik Abubakar would win the parliamentary seat.
At a press conference to respond to the concerns, the NPP executives insisted the NDC’s Sadik Abubakar lost the parliamentary seat.
"There was skirt blouse voting in the just-ended presidential and parliamentary election at Ahafo Ano South-West constituency," they said. "We are using this medium to inform Ghanaians that Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah won the Ahafo Ano South-West parliamentary seat with 16,058 against Sadik Abubakar of the NDC who gained 15,373 votes".
