Nsawam Medium Security Prisons has been fumigated and disinfected by Dansworld Cleaning Services Limited (DISL) to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The cleaning exercise which took place on Sunday was supervised by the Eastern Regional Prisons Commander of the Prison Service, Ernest Adofo, and the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Adamu Latif Abdul.
Their presence was to ensure the team abided by security protocols due to the nature of people incarcerated there.

Speaking to the media on the reason for such an exercise for the Prisons Service, the CEO of the company, Bernard Ntow, said it was their way of contributing to the fight against the virus.
“We can’t leave the whole preventive efforts of Covid-19 to government. Corporate organizations like myself must contribute our quota against this deadly coronavirus."
"Hence, this is our Corporate Social Responsibility in the fight against Covid-19 and most importantly, our prisons service, as you saw when we entered can barely practice social distancing, so these measures like constant fumigation are very important to prevent the virus from entering there,” he said.

PRO of the prison, Adamu Latif Abdul expressed gratitude for the gesture by the company.
“We are grateful to Dansworld and their management for this exercise. Even though we haven’t recorded any case here so far, the nature of our prisons and its management is such that, it will be difficult to practice social distancing with the inmates."
"Therefore, such activities are really important as they help us prevent Covid-19 from entering the prisons at all, even though we are adhering to other protocols like hands washing, use of sanitizers etc,” he stated.

He further urged other corporate organisations to assist the facility with face masks, hand santisers, and thermometers.
Adamu appealed for food aid since the public has been advised to eat properly to boost the immune system.
The fumigation and disinfection of Nsawam Prisons is part of a host of other fumigations projects Dansworld has undertaken to help curb the spread of coronavirus.
DISL is an environmental management company that specializes in facility management services and fumigation.
