Kadjebi-Asato SHS has secured victory in a fiercely contested National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2026 preliminary contest at the SMS Auditorium.
The Oti Region representatives in contest 17 finished on 56 points, edging Ahantaman Girls’ SHS, who mounted a strong challenge to end on 48 points. Ada SHTS placed third with 35 points.
Kadjebi-Asato, who entered the contest with the strongest national pedigree among the three schools, showed why they were considered favourites, holding their nerve to maintain their advantage through the final stages.

Ahantaman Girls’, however, refused to go down without a fight and came within striking distance of the leaders.
They also enjoyed a bright moment in the final round, answering three of the four riddles.
Despite the spirited challenge from Ahantaman Girls’, Kadjebi-Asato held on to finish eight points clear and strengthen their bid for a deeper run at the 2026 national championship.
For Ada SHTS, the contest ended with 35 points, but their appearance marks another important step in their national journey.

Kadjebi-Asato will now advance with renewed confidence, while Ahantaman Girls’ will have to wait to see whether their 48-point haul is enough to secure progression through the runners-up route.
