Vice Chairman of the Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has expressed deep disappointment over the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Citi FM on Monday, December 16, 2024, Akomea confessed that he has not yet come to terms with the defeat.
"No, I haven’t recovered. The main reason for my struggle is the lost opportunity. I still believe Bawumia has the best ideas for turning the country around. That is my biggest disappointment," he shared.
The NPP’s aspiration to “break the eight” and secure a third consecutive term was dashed with their loss in the 2024 elections.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party's candidate and Vice President, was defeated by former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In the presidential race, Dr Bawumia garnered approximately 41.86% of the votes, while Mahama triumphed with 56.49%.
This loss marked a historic moment for the NPP, as the party's attempt to extend its rule for a third consecutive term—a feat never achieved by any political party in Ghana—came to an end.
