President John Mahama has assured nursing trainees that the Government has put mechanisms in place to ensure that the payment of their monthly allowances will be done automatically.
He assured them that their allowances were being worked on by the Government and that by next month (July), they would start receiving their payments.
“We have designed it such that your payment will come automatically every month. Every month, you will receive your money.”
President Mahama stated in his address at a durbar of the chiefs and people of the North East Region at Nalerigu during his Thank You Tour of the Region.
“The budget was made for January, and so when we start paying you next month, the arrears from January to June will be paid to you.”
The President is embarking on his nationwide Thank You Tour to express gratitude to Ghanaians for their support for him and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the December 7, 2024, general election.
President Mahama announced that the Nalerigu College of Nursing and Midwifery was one of the colleges that had been selected for upgrading into a degree-awarding institution.
He said education remained the nation’s greatest equaliser, adding that no region could prosper if its children were left behind.
He said the Gambaga College of Education remained a critical priority, and that following his directive, the GEDFUND Administrator had assessed the stalled projects on that campus, and he would confirm that funding was ready to complete the permanent site.
“We expect construction to resume in the third quarter of this year. The contractor will be on site at the Gambaga College of Education's new site,” the President said.
