The Office of the Special Prosecutor has abandoned all charges against the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
This comes after an Accra High Court ordered the OSP to return Cecilia Dapaah's seized funds to her within 72 hours.
At a press conference on Thursday, January 25, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng referred the case to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to continue with investigation.
Also, the High Court convicted six individuals implicated in an alleged coup plot for conspiracy to commit high treason and committing high treason.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Agordzo, Colonel Gameli, and another junior military officer, Corporal Seidu Abubakar, were acquitted and discharged.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government, demanding the withdrawal of the imposition of Value Added Tax (VAT) on electricity consumption beyond the lifeline threshold.
The Secretary-General of TUC, Dr. Yaw Baah stressed the detrimental impact of this move on the livelihoods of ordinary Ghanaians, particularly pensioners and those with low incomes.
Again, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa suggested shifting the date for both Presidential and Parliamentary elections from December 7 to November 7.
These proposals were presented during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Monday, January 22, 2024.
But the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opposed the Electoral Commission’s proposal to change the election date from December 7 to November 7.
Instead of endorsing the EC's unilateral decision, the NDC is calling for a comprehensive review of the electoral process through inclusive and proper dialogue.
Host Samson Lardy Anyenini and his panelist delved into the above issues on Newsfile.
