A collaboration between police and Nhyira FM in Kumasi has led to the rescue of a teenage girl who escaped from her matrimonial home in Cote d’Ivoire where she had been forced into marriage.
The intervention comes as relatives prepare to send the Junior High School graduate back to her husband against her will and ambition to continue her education.
Armed personnel from the Manhyia Divisional Command stormed the Asawasi family home in then Ashanti Region and took her away, amid resistance from relatives.
Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah has more in the following report.
