The former running mate of the National Democratic Congress, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, has reacted to what she believes is the President’s wanton disregard for communities that did not vote for him and his party.

Her comment on Facebook follows President Akufo-Addo’s recent digs at traditional authorities of communities he believes did not vote for him or his party in the 2020 elections.

In his latest dig, the President told an entourage of traditional rulers from Ekumfi that he had neglected their town in his developmental agenda because they had voted out the NPP MP for the area in the 2020 elections.

According to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, the President’s comment is merely an attempt to deflect blame for “his failures and woes on those who he claims do not vote for him.”

“No one has forgotten his response to Torgbui Adzonu-Gaga Amenya Fiti V, the Paramount Chief from Aflao, about the need to complete one of our e-blocks to pre-empt unnecessary stress.

“Many remember a similar reaction in a response to the displaced and traumatized people of the flooded areas in the Volta Region.

“He simply repeated same to the usurpers from Ekumfi as described by the family of our late President, who were granted audience on a matter that is clearly none of their business,” she said.

Taking the above into consideration, the former NDC running mate quizzed whether the people of the Ashanti Region have not been voting for the ruling party as they should considering their loud clamouring for developmental projects.

“Does his party not gain majority of their votes from the region? Maybe they don’t vote and in the consistency expressed, are deserving of his neglect.

“This reaction makes one wonder where the “massive votes” actually come from,” she stated.

According to the Professor, the President’s response to the people of the Ashanti region is much anticipated.

“Many of us await the response of our president to his ‘stronghold’. Maybe he will repeat his response to Torgbui Adzonu-Gaga Amenya Fiti V. Or to the good people of Kwabre, again. But, let’s wait.

“Maybe we will hear a response different from the one he directed to the people of Kwabre that it’s none of his business if they vote for the NDC. I believe the good people from Kwabre have heard the president whose party they swear to have consistently voted for, loud and clear.

“Indeed he went on to explain to the good people of Kwabre that he is not expected to hold their thumbs down the ballot papers,” she posted.

On behalf of the NDC, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang welcomed the votes of all and sundry.

“The NDC welcomes the votes of all people in the country, regardless.

“We are happy to collaborate with everyone who desires to restore our country onto itself by joining all our efforts in building the Ghana we all want, led by our experienced, respectful and humble, flag bearer, HE John Dramani Mahama, whose record speaks for itself,” she concluded.
