Former General Manager of Nsoatreman FC, Eric Alagidede, says football administrators must take partial blame for the growing wave of hooliganism at match venues across the country.
Speaking on JoyFM SMS morning show in reaction to the JoySports' documentary on football-related violence, Alagidede claimed that many club executives are fully aware of the individuals who regularly instigate trouble but often fail to act.
“There is no football administrator who does not know the troublemakers at their venues and I say this on authority,” he said on Joy FM.
“They know the people who create problems for visiting teams and the fans who come to watch the game at their venues.”
Alagidede believes that until club administrators take responsibility and allow the laws to work, efforts to sanitize Ghana football will continue to fall short.
“The administrators need to accept some level of responsibility and make sure they allow the laws [for sanctioning hooligans] to work.”
Scars of Hooliganism uncovers the human, emotional, and structural impact of fan violence in Ghana football. The documentary airs on JoyNews, Monday, June 23, 2025, all day.
