Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, on the 15th of October 2025, hosted the highly anticipated Pitch Day and Graduation for the fifth cohort of its pioneering Futuremakers Women in Tech (FWIT) program.

The event celebrated ten outstanding female entrepreneurs who have completed an intensive 6-month capacity-building journey with Ashesi University's Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) and pitched their innovative, tech-driven businesses for a share of grant funding.

The vibrant event was a powerful testament to the growing force of women in Ghana's technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It brought together investors, ecosystem leaders, alumni, and partners to witness the culmination of the cohort's hard work and to foster meaningful connections.

"The FWIT program is more than just training; it's about building a resilient and supportive infrastructure for women who are using technology to solve pressing challenges," said Anne Sackey, Director for Marketing and Communications at GCIC. "Today, we are not just graduating ten businesses; we are launching ten powerful solutions and amplifying the voices of women in tech." 

The event featured a full day of activities, including dynamic pitches from the ten entrepreneurs before a panel of esteemed judges from the technology ecosystem, The pitches showcased a diverse range of tech-enabled solutions addressing local and global needs.

Mansa Nettey, Chief Executive of  Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Plc, reiterated the bank's commitment: "Our partnership with GCIC and Village Capital on the Futuremakers Women In Tech is a strategic investment in Ghana's future. Through their innovation and resilience, they have not only built impactful ideas but have also inspired us all. They are true changemakers and the future they are shaping looks incredibly bright.”

A keynote address was delivered by Dr. Amanobea Boateng, International Gender Consultant and founder of the Women's DNA Fund, who inspired the audience with her insights on merging profit with social good and the power of building a strong network.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of the five top-performing entrepreneurs, each awarded a grant of GHC125,500 to scale their ventures. The businesses are:

·       WaxFarm

·       AgriEase

·       Lbh Farm

The "FWIT Cohort 5 Pitch Day and Graduation" marks a significant milestone in Standard Chartered’s mission to close the gender gap in technology and entrepreneurship, proving that when women are equipped and supported, they become unparalleled drivers of innovation and economic progress.

The climax of the celebration was the official launch of the FWIT Alumni Network ceremony, a dedicated community designed to provide ongoing support, mentorship and networking opportunities, ensuring the long-term success of all participants.
