Ghana started their 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations journey with a 4-0 win over Group C opponents Tanzania on Tuesday, thanks to a brace from Percious Boah, a sumptuous strike from Fatawu Issahaku and a composed finish from Joselpho Barnes.
Coach Karim Zito's side needed just four minutes to break the deadlock. Percious Boah, scored a free-kick from 25 yards. His knuckleball style took a fortunate bounce which beat the opposition goalkeeper.
A few minutes later, Boah had a glorious opportunity to double the lead but failed to score as he blasted the ball over from close range.
The Black Satellites pushed on and were rewarded with another goal. In the 31st minute, Fatawu Issahaku took the ball and scored a potential goal of the tournament with a shot from the halfway line.
Ghana's U20 side started the second half on the back foot with Tanzania creating a host of chances.
But against the run of play, Percious Boah smartly threw his marker off and unleashed an unstoppable near-post strike to finally get his brace in the 71st minute.
The team did not end there. In the 88th minute, Matthew Cudjoe played a perfect reverse pass to Joselpho Barnes who expertly beat the onrushing goalkeeper.
Ghana are now top of the group and await the result from Morocco versus the Gambia game scheduled for Tuesday evening.
Black Satellites will face Morocco on Friday before taking on the Gambia in their final group game on Monday.
