Unity Hall (Conti) has firmly denied media reports linking a recent stabbing incident to a clash between supporters of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Hon Kennedy Agyapong.
The altercation, which occurred during the New Patriotic Party’s “Thank You Tour” in Kumasi, left one member of Unity Hall injured.
In a statement released by the group, they clarified that the incident was purely criminal and not politically motivated.

“We categorically state that this incident has no connection to any altercation between supporters of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and those of Kennedy Agyapong,” the statement said.
According to Unity Hall, their members were invited to the event solely to provide morale support through performances, and their presence should not be misconstrued as political endorsement.
“We would like to emphasise that CONTI is a non-partisan group and is not affiliated with any political party or organisation,” the statement reiterated.
The group stressed its longstanding tradition of remaining apolitical despite frequent invitations to perform at national events.
The incident reportedly began when a man identified as “Maxxi” offered a monetary token to the performers in appreciation of their effort.
However, a group of unknown, heavily built men allegedly confronted the Continentals, demanded the money, brandished a firearm, and forcibly took it. During the ensuing struggle, one member of Unity Hall was stabbed.
“In the course of this altercation, one of our members was unfortunately stabbed,” Unity Hall confirmed.
The statement concluded with a note of responsibility and a commitment to ensuring such incidents are prevented in the future.
“We, as Continentals, accept responsibility for our involvement in this situation and are taking steps to address the underlying issues that contributed to this unfortunate occurrence,” it stated.
The group called for calm and cautioned the public and media against spreading unverified political narratives surrounding the incident.
